We’ve posted about Oklahoma City before, but this time we did Oklahoma City right. We were able to collaborate with Visit OKC for an amazing weekend in one of our favorite weekend getaway cities! From the food to the activities to the amazing hotel, we had a weekend full of all of our favorite things. If you are ever nearby or passing through, be sure to stop and check out this amazing little city! (Not so little with 640,000 people!)
Where to Stay in Oklahoma City!
If you’ve never been to a 21C Museum Hotel, then this is the perfect city to try them out for the first time. If you love modern features, spacious rooms, art museums and PET FRIENDLY accommodations, then you will love the 21C Museum Hotel Oklahoma City. I have to say the huge floor to ceiling windows were probably one of my favorite parts, but I also have to say that I had the best shower of my life there. You definitely feel like you can make yourself at home in the space, and it feels more like a little apartment rather than a hotel room. Side note, they have Nespresso machines, so that’s a definite win in my book!
What to do in Oklahoma City!
Myriad Botanical Gardens
The Myriad Botanical Gardens, which I have been wanting to see the last few times we’ve visited Oklahoma City, is definitely on our list of places you need to go! Between all of the greenery, flowers, waterfalls and just cozy feeling, it makes for the perfect afternoon activity. You feel like you’ve been transported into a tropical rain forest! Just make sure you walk the walkway upstairs where you can look down on the canopy of beautiful and luscious greenery!
Street Art Tour!
Who knew that Oklahoma City was such a hub for amazing street art?! We’ve been to the city several times, but this time we noticed more murals than we’ve ever seen before. From fun OKC specific murals to street art in the underpasses, the city is full of vibrant color and talented artists on display! Who needs to go all the way to LA for that Instafamous shot when you can just head to OKC? You already know that we took an Insta worthy shot in front of every mural we came across. Museums!
We also visited the Oklahoma City Museum of Art which had an awesome Chihuly exhibit and some other amazing modern art pieces. We love to just walk around museums and admire the details of every piece. There are always a few that I wish I could take home and hang on my walls, but since that’s not possible, I’ll just have to settle for a few photos. Definitely a perfect rainy day activity!
